Customer Rating: Summary: Worked great for me (64-bit Vista and HP Laserjet 5MP) Comment: Cable is 6 feet long as described, and it comes with a mini-CD labeled "DRIVER", but I didn't need it. I just plugged the cable into my PC (running 64-bit Windows Vista) and Windows immediately recognized it and found a driver. Then I plugged it into my printer (HP LaserJet 5MP), and Windows automatically added the printer. So I printed a webpage from Internet Explorer and it printed fine! Couldn't have been any easier.
Customer Rating: Summary: Seems to work fine but it's not 6 feet Comment: 'Bought this roughly one month ago for a Vista 64 bit system using a ten year old Lexmark color jet printer. It was simply plug & play & works just fine. I paid ~$15.00 which was a good price relative to other prices out there. The Amazon price as I write this is ~$3.00 cheaper which is fair given that the unit I received measured from head to toe is actually only 5 feet. So it might be worth asking if given the new lower price, it is now actually only 4 feet! 'Wasn't worth the hassle to return it but do take note especially if you need the advertised length.
Customer Rating: Summary: Plug and Play with Windows XP and ME Comment: I didn't even need to use the disk. It works as a Plug 'n Play, meaning you just plug it in and the "new hardware wizard" on your computer finds it and installs the drivers. Loading up the disk probably will just confuse the computer if it's a newer computer.
It let my older HP printer connect to my newer computer. Great product!
Customer Rating: Summary: USB Printer Cable Comment: This printer USB Cable is perfect. I bought it to connect a printer to my son's laptop. All I had to do is plug it into the laptop's USB port and connect to the printer. The laptop recognized the printer right away - no driver loading necessary. He was able to print in a minute.
Customer Rating: Summary: Does not work well with Vista64 Comment: Occasionally works with my Vista 64 system / HP LaserJet 4L. After first installing, it worked as expected. But after just about every reboot, the printer fails to work. Sometimes, it will start working if you re-install, but frustratingly, not always. The problem is compounded by having multiple users on the system. It wants to install a printer device (on a new virtual USB port) for each one.
So, the upshot is, unless you never reboot your system, this is a big pain to use. It gets 1 star because it did work (and still does, sometimes) and you can't really give a 0 star review here, but really for the frustration it should get 0.
